February at Fox Creek

It is hard to believe that February is almost over! I don't know where the time goes. In the beginning of the month we had some special visitors come to see us, Great Grandpa and Grandma Evans. It was such a joy to have them come all the way up here to see us, love knows no boundries I guess. They came from Edmonton on Saturday Feb 4 and stayed overnight, we went to church and out for lunch. We came back to our appartment and they got packed up to hit the road again to get a few more miles behind them on their journey to Abbotsford. It was kinda funny because our pastor is Neil Bassingthwaighte, and Grandpa and Grandma knew Niel's Grandfather because he was form Weldon and was the local piano tuner around the countryside. It truely is a small world.
Then on the 12th Jeff left me for a week to go to Strathmore for Global Training, it is to update all their certificates and safety stuff. I think it was just a sorry excuse to miss Valentines Day, and it must have been all the men that work at BP that organized it so they didn't have to do anything for their wives!!! Oh well, I did get a nice present when he got home though. And Tyson was sooo excited when his Dad was finally home. He really misses Jeff when he is working lots.
Then there is all the snow we have gotten in the last couple weeks. It actually looks like winter now. I am glad it wasn't like this when Grandma and Grandpa were here. But again Tyson likes to play in the snow, making snow angels and sliding at the hill. Last week Amanda(babysits Tyson) took Tyson, Josh and Cadence for a sleigh ride and went sliding. However I think she might be crazy, she took them all the way to the riding club hill(okay this is Fox Creek so it is not like miles and miles away, but far enough). With one child on her back, and pulling two sleighs she walked there and back, in the 6 inches(atleast)of fresh snow with atleast an extra 80 lbs, I would have died!!!Hats off to you Amanda.
So I better go, Jeff is finally home. He is actually working pretty hard lately, atleast putting in alot of hours anyways. It almost seems like life back in Saskatchewan during harvest, when I was a single parent. Ha Ha Ha, but atleast there is overtime here.
I hope everyone that reads this is happy, healthy and enjoying lifes journey.

Kids will be Kids

Our life has been so blessed since we have come to Fox Creek. It is hard to believe we have been here for almost 6 months. In that time we have made wonderful friends here. Everyone is so amazing. Tyson has grown up so much and enjoys all of his friends he has made here. It is so nice that he has some great little boys to play with. Now that I am working abit, Tyson goes to his friend Josh's house(Josh, Cadence and Tyson in the one pic). He loves going there, but now he doesn't want to come home with me. Very unusual for my son. Dean also came over one day to play, they both had a blast with each other. All I can say is friends are so great to have, whether here in Fox Creek and back home in Saskatchewan. Love you all!!!

Christmas Time

Well our Christmas was GREAT!! We headed back to Saskatchewan on the 22nd of December, getting to Taylor's at 10:45pm Sask time. The roads were excellent, as well as the passengers in the van for the 10 hr trip back home. On the thursday we got to do some visiting in Kinistino and see Tyson's baby Caitlyn, even though she is barely a baby anymore (Sorry Sandra, but she is getting pretty big, closing in on that 1 year old age you know). On the 24th we had our Christmas Day with the Taylor's, opening stockings and presents, all of us are way too spoiled. Tyson had fun opening all his presents and playing with all his new toys. And just being at Grandma and Grandpa Taylor's house was probaly the highlight of everything. We got to have a nice turkey dinner with the family, Great Grandma Taylor and Great Grandma and Grandpa Thesen came as well. So we had a good visit with everyone and a relaxing time. Then everyone was off to other parents for more Christmas, so we went to Church with Garth and Jean in Melfort and stayed at their house again that night. First thing Christmas Day we went to my Mom and Dad's, Tyson was so excited to see Grandma and Papa, Auntie Janine, Dustin and Uncle Kris. We then got all the presents unwrapped, spoiled again! We had a wonderful breakfast and visit, then all the guys were off to do chores. Tyson was VERY excited to go and see the cows and go in the tractor, Jeff I think was just as excited to be on the farm again too. So us girls got another turkey dinner cooking and relaxed and visited it was awesome!!! Later in the afternoon Great Grandma and Grandpa Barrie, Jo and Mark and their girls, and Uncle Darren and Zack came out. They all played outside with the quads, going for sleigh rides and playing in the snow until it was time for supper. All the little cousins had a great time with each other playing toys and games. It was the best environment ever, I love family get togethers, especially since we live so far away now. Unfortunately bedtime seemed to end all the fun for that day, sleep is so overrated on a holiday.
On Boxing Day we went to Arborfield for the Thesen Christmas, and yes had another turkey dinner, yes, we had three turkey dinners in three days. Am I eating turkey again? Not for a very long time. However I did thoroughly enjoy every meal we had, it was delicious and the company was excellent! On our way home from Arborfield we stopped in to see the Fraser's and had a nice visit with them. Then headed back to mom and dad's for supper. Mark, Jo and the girls were there so Tyson got to play with them one more time. He misses them so much since we are back. On the 27th we hung out at mom and dad's, grandma and grandpa Barrie, and uncle Darren and Zack came out for dinner to have another visit before we headed back to Alberta. Then Sandra and Caitlyn stopped by and we went for a walk to enjoy some fresh air and stretch our legs. IT was a very enjoyable Christmas for us, the only thing that would have been better is if our stay could have been longer and we could have gotten to see a few more friends. However we will be home again, with all the weddings coming up in the new year I think we will be making a few more trips home. Jaime and Ryan got engaged!! Very excited for them. So hope everyone else had an excellent Christmas and all the best in the New Year!

Christmas is Coming

Well we are almost ready for Christmas, just the wrapping and packing left to do. We are heading back to Saskatchewan (yeah!!) for the holiday. It will be a packed couple of days, but well worth it. Tyson is missing everyone, he tells them all to "come my house" on the phone so it is quite obvious he misses everybody. On the weekend we went to Grande Prairie and stayed in a hotel, which is nearly impossible to get a room in that city, went swimming in the big pool and then in the jacuzzi in our room. It was alot of fun for all of us.
Anyways it was so funny because when we were shopping we pulled up to this one western store and Tyson says "Auntie Mel's work" and I didn't really know what he was talking about at first. Then he kept saying it and I finally figured out that the building looks just like the Saskatoon Livestock Center, where Chris and Mel have their office. Tyson has only been there once, when we stopped on our way home in September. I thought it was halarious that he remembered where Auntie Mel works, and was quite excited to go and see her.
So anyways we can't wait to get back to the good old prairies and see everyone, eat lots and have a very Merry Christmas!!

Edmonton Trip

On the November long weekend we headed into Edmonton, Jeff took the Thursday off so we would have an extra day. We got to the city about 11:30, the trip was quite long for Tyson but in the end I think he thought it was worth it. We went to Farm Fair and saw some cows, which was nice for all of us. Then Melanie found us, so we hung out with her and Larry and Joanne for most of the afternoon. Chris was busy with auctions so we didn't see him until supper time. We toured through the trade fair part for awhile, we mostly were at a massage chair booth and it was hard to get Jeff to leave it too. But anyways we went to Boston Pizza with Chris and Mel, had a nice supper then tried to find our hotel. Which wasn't the easiest task for us, but we finally made it there. And it was just in time for Tyson and Jeff to go swimming for about 20 min. Then Friday morning we met up with Gramma and Uncle Kris at the West Ed waterpark. That was fun! However Jeff could have stayed there all day, instead of shopping. Which he ended up taking Tyson back to the hotel for a nap. The mall was very, VERY, busy that weekend. But we got alot of Christmas shopping done so that was nice. That evening we all went back to our hotel and had a pizza party then went swimming again. Shopping again on saturday, we went early to west ed so Tyson could run around and look at all the different stuff they have there. He thought that was great. Then for saturday night we stayed with Gramma, Kris ended up staying at a friends house in Sherwood Park, so that worked out really good. We had a nice birthday supper for Jeff sat night since his birthday was the next day. Sunday was not as busy, said our goodbyes to Gramma and Kris, made a couple stops on our way out of the city and headed back to Fox Creek. In all a great weekend, and hope to do it again sometime.

Winter is Here

On November 4th Tyson looked out the window and saw Great Big Snowflakes coming down. He was so excited that winter was here!!! All he did was dance around the apartment and talk, no yell, about the snow. SO when I asked him if he wanted to go play outside he could barely contain himself he was so excited. Being that it was now winter we had to get all the gear on, which maybe is not the fun part of winter because it just takes too long for an excited little boy. However, we finally got all dressed and headed out to the winter wonderland. Snow, it is just the most amazing thing to a 2 year old, it is like the biggest discover ever. So after we played in it for long enough and cheeks are started to get way to red, we had to back indoors, which is the most tragic disaster to happen to someone, you would think. After choaxing with hot chocolate, Tyson was finally conviced that going inside was not the end of the world. And trust me winter will be here for way too long, even for someone who lives the snow so much.

Halloween

Here are some pics of our halloween. It was fun, we carved a pumkin, well I had to clean it out, Tyson and Jeff were drew pics to see what face to put on our jack-o-lantern. Actually his name was Jack the Punken, decided by Tyson of coarse. So finally after I got all the messy part done with Jeff and Tyson started working on the face. Tyson enjoyed himself, but we made Jack a little too scary for him, especially when we put the candle in him and turned out the lights.
We also went trick or treating, Tyson dressed up like a Sheriff. We went over to Josh's house and all went together to get some treats. Josh was dressed up as Robin Hood so they made a good pair. The boys had a great time together, only fought for a little bit, by the end they were to tired to fight. They just said "I tired", so we had to carry them the rest of the way. All around we had a great halloween and can't wait till next year to get dressed up. Which I think I might just forget about the getting candy part, because all I have heard is "Mommy I have trick or treat" every day since halloween. Trust me a 2 year old boy does not need much candy is his system to really get him going and Mommy can only handle that once in awhile(preferably when Daddy is home).

On a Farm, YEAH

On a farm, what an exciting thing. Something we took forgranted before in Saskatchewan, now it is a real treat. In the picture Tyson is riding "Odie", named that becaue he likes eating oats, . We went out to Ambroses, Jeff's boss, for a pig roast with some other employees. It was fun, I got to meet some of the guys Jeff works with plus we were at the farm and saw horses and cows! We had lots of fun and Tyson had a good night sleep that night after all that fresh air and runnig around.

Before Winter Comes

Tyson and I enjoyed some time out at the park before the dreaded flurries fly. It was a wonderful day out at the park, Tyson was on the swings, the slide and just plain old running around with a carefree spirit. It was great! We even met some neighbors of ours that day. Once again they are not from Fox Creek (no one here is actually from the town) they came from Saskatchewan, farming of coarse, and are now here working in little old Fox Creek. Anyways we had a great time out at the park that day and can't wait for spring to come again.

Tyson

Now Tyson is adjusted quite well, he knows his home is in Fox Creek, and because we are in the apartment he enjoys going for drives around town now that winter is here. He is growing so much, he just had another growth spurt because most of his shirts are too short in the sleeves, he is going to be just like his dad. Not that he isn't already a spitting image of Jeff. He enjoys playing with his tractors and trucks, making all sorts of engine sounds. Recently gramma sent him a package and in it there were a couple of guitar picks,"just like Kris'." Whom he idolizes with his guitar playing. Tyson walks around playing his guitar saying "see just like Kirs", and if any music comes on he has to run and find his guitar so he can play too. He definatly keeps me entertained.
So this is a start for my blog, I will get some pics put on it and do some more so bare with me I'm a beginner.

Taylor Trio

Hello everyone
This is my first ever blog. So bare with me as I play with this for a bit. As you know we are now living in Fox Creek, ALberta. We moved here in August and are enjoy our new life here. Jeff has had the biggest change with his new career, but enjoying it as well. However his learn curve has sky rocketed and the first couple weeks he wasn't sure if he would remember everything. But now he has gotten into the groove of things and is doing very well. One thing that is really different is the fact that he actually has real days off. Not used to that at all, coming from the farm this is quite a change for us. However Jeff does get bored on some of his days off, but Tyson enjoys having him around more.
